Portsmouth Specialist Health Visiting Service
Specialist Health Visiting Service
We are a small team of Specialist Health Visitors who work in Portsmouth. We deliver an enhanced health visiting service to families who have children with multiple health needs, development delay and/or a disability. We see pre-school children, who are registered with a Portsmouth GP. Our base is at Battenberg child development centre, alongside other community health services including: paediatricians, therapist and community nurses. We provide early support, signposting to other services and targeted interventions tailored to the individual child’s needs.
All children under 5 with a development delay will have a contact within the Health visiting team. Specialist Health Visitors work closely with the general Health visiting team providing guidance, consultation, raising awareness and understanding. For those children who require a higher level support they may be referred into the specialist service.
Our role is to support the health and well being of school age children by promoting good health to enable children to reach their full potential.
