How are parents, carers and families involved in the SEND&AP Change Programme?

The Change Programme is an opportunity to test changes to the way the whole SEND and AP system works, and it is imperative that parents, carers and families are fully involved in the South East’s Change Programme activities. Co-production and engagement are at the heart of this process. This document outlines some of the ways in which Parent Carer Forums (PCFs) may be involved in the programme:

  • Each Change Programme Partnership (CPP) has a steering group with strong representation from National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) and local PCFs
  • Local PCFs can provide feedback from their communities to inform the reforms and participate in co-production on new processes
  • The Change Programme will be working closely with parents, carers and families during the evaluation process

Supporting project work

The South East CPP are committed to co-production and all local authorities engaged in the programme will work with their parent/carer forums to support this. It should be noted that much of the work will require consultation and feedback to inform the reforms rather than full co-production; for example, feedback on templates provided by the Change Programme.

Each local authority may be taking a different approach to an area of the work, and this will be reflected in the consultation and co-production activities across the region.

How will parents, carers and families be communicated with?
