Discover free and low-cost activities in Portsmouth this summer
If you have a child or young person with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) we recognise that it can be difficult to fill the summer holidays with activities that are low-cost and accessible.
Portsmouth SEND Local Offer has worked with partners and community groups in the city to pull together a list of activities and events for families, putting them into an easy-to-use webpage.
Some of the activities on offer this summer include:
- Visiting a library to work with a local artist, specifically for SEN children
- Sailing the Solent in SEN sail club courses
- Taking part in one of HAFs many workshops and activities
- Enjoying soft play at Exploria’s SEND bounce session
The webpage will be updated across the summer holidays with more events and activities – so please check back regularly to see what is going on near you.
While most activities will be open to all, some will have specific criteria attached. This may mean you will need to be on income-related benefits or your child needs to be a certain age to access activities, so you will need to contact the provider directly if you are unsure.
Alongside specific activities, the guide also gives information on the Portsmouth Leisure Card which entitles people living in the PO1 to PO6 areas of the city to discounts of up to 50% at Portsmouth City Council facilities as well as other services. Applying for a Leisure Card is free and available to residents that receive means-tested benefits.
