Portsmouth Youth Project – Enable Ability (ages 18-25)
Brief description of what services your organisation offers
Portsmouth Youth Project provides a range of activities for young people aged 18 – 25 years with a range of mild to moderate learning or physical disabilities, or a special educational need. This gives them the chance to spend some quality time away from their parents or carers, meet new people, make new friendships and socialise in small groups. They learn new skills and work on improving their independence, through our supported volunteering and work experience programme. It also gives their parents/carers a valuable break away from their caring responsibilities and the chance to spend time with other family members.
Where the service is provided?
We take young people from all areas of Portsmouth, accessing various activities around the city. Transport can be provided if necessary, for which a charge is made.
What the organisation provides – types of interventions and support
We provide a weekend programme of events, which can include: bowling, cinema, meals out, archery, Laser Quest, Flip Out and some day trips out. As well as supported volunteering and work experience.
We charge towards the costs of the activities and for transport if required
Who can access your service?

What do you expect young people to gain from using your service?
The service promotes improved outcomes for health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people with disabilities by ensuring that they can fully participate in social and leisure activities.
